This time of year is both exciting and sad. As much as we all love summer, we love our Van Dyke Community just as much! Wrapping up the 2022-23 school year will be fun, and we look forward to summer and fall with our students.

Pre School registration is going on now! Please call 586-759-9406 to see if your child qualifies!

Congratulations, Seniors! Our 12th grade students had their last day of school today and, as usual, it was bittersweet to say goodbye to them. They'll be back for their breakfast and then again for Graduation on June 5. It's been a great 13 years with the Class of 2023.

It's tough being a parent and a teen nowadays! Social media absolutely makes it even more complicated - It makes me happy I'm so old and didn't have to deal with it as a young person. The US Surgeon General has put out some tips to help parents. Attention Van Dyke Parents:
We will have another "round" of Kindergarten registrations on May 9th from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Kennedy Early Childhood Center. Please call 586-759-9406 for more information.

CARLSON FAMILIES: You should have received a call from our system letting you know, however there was a gas leak and children will be released from KENNEDY EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER on Kaltz Avenue just south of Ten Mile Road. Please have an ID or send an approved guardian/family member/friend with photo ID to pick them up. Thank you so much. Consumers Energy is working on the issue for us.

Van Dyke Community: Don't forget that our district spring break begins at dismissal today. We'll see you all back in school on Tuesday, April 11th. Be safe and enjoy the break.

Good morning, Van Dyke Community. This morning, once again, we are overcome with emotion after another deadly school shooting. Whatever you are feeling, any emotions you are working through with your families, are normal. Again, please reach out if you or your children may need additional resources. As added precautions and to help everyone to feel safe, you will see additional bag checks and perhaps drills this week before our break. Our safety teams are working with students and staff daily. We love our community and will work through this awful reality together.

Families: Are you looking for something fun to do before dinner this evening? Join us at LHS for a Parent and Child Expo. See the flyer for more details.

Good morning, Van Dyke Community. It hurts my heart and soul each time we hear of another shooting or act of violence, especially in schools. Yesterday's events in Denver have affected us all. Please reach out to the school if you or your children need additional support. We are all in this together. We pledge to do everything we can to keep our buildings safe for students, staff, and visitors - including physically and emotionally. Again, be sure to always hug your loved ones and say I LOVE YOU more thanever. I love you. - Mrs. Bognar

The game is ON! We'll see you at 7 to support the Abes. #LHSbasketball

Harry the Snow Day Dog, although barely conscious at this point, would like for you to all have a safe and cozy snow day tomorrow. We will be CLOSED Friday, March 10, 2023 due to incoming inclement weather. Have a wonderful weekend and think spring!

Congratulations to Ms. Kathy Saunders, our Auditorium Coordinator, who recently wrote and received a grant from Extra Credit Union. The Grant funds will directly benefit our auditorium upgrades, and we already have a beautiful new podium for school events!

Good evening. Due to weather, ice, and dangerous driving conditions, VDPS will be closed Thursday, February 23. Harry the Snow Day Dog has been watching the weather and has consulted with the other weather dogs. He says to stay safe and be ready for a great school day on Friday.

Good evening, VDPS Community. Tomorrow, Wednesday, February 22 will be a snow/ice day for all students. School, including all after school activities and events, will be closed. Stay home and warm like Harry the Snow Day Dog, or help a neighbor in need.

Happy Friday, VDPS Community! We hope you are enjoying the mid-winter break. Last week, two of our CAD (computer aided design) students were honored at the Macomb County MCTEAA Awards. Shaun Gianino, pictured, and Cynthia Lor both received honors. Cynthia also received a scholarship for the fall semester. Congratulations to our Abes, and keep up the motivation & great work.

Van Dyke Public Schools would like to recognize our own Officers Carrero and Tucker on National School Resource Officer Day. We appreciate their connections with students and families, and their pledge to help keep our schools safe.

Attention Lincoln Elementary families: We will need to dismiss early due to a power issue. Please pick up your students at their specific dismissal door. This is for Lincoln Elementary ONLY.

Good morning, Van Dyke Community. This message comes from a heavy heart. As our state mourns the events at MSU last night, we all hug our loved ones a bit more tightly this morning. All of us in Van Dyke vigilantly work to keep your students safe daily and it saddens us that we have to think about such things in a place of community and learning for our children and staff. We are sending love and peace to all.

Good afternoon, VDPS families and community. This weekend brought sad and tragic events to our country once again. Many of you are having difficult and heartbreaking conversations with your children. These are family conversations that you will want to have, but here are a few articles that might help when your loved ones are asking questions. Please reach out to your child's school if you feel they need more support. We are in this together.
