Van Dyke Public Schools will hold an election on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, presenting voters with a net zero-mill increase ballot question; to authorize general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $36,170,000 for facility and learning environment improvements, including creating a large multi-purpose space at the Lincoln High School Campus.

If the November 5, 2024 bond proposal question passes, homeowners within the Van Dyke School District would see a net zero-mill net increase over the prior year's levy on their tax bill related to Van Dyke Public Schools and this question. 70% of this bond proposal will go towards upgrading aging infrastructure in our schools, which will assist with reducing operational costs, utility bills, and energy usage.

This bond proposal will address multiple health and safety concerns by replacing HVAC systems, removing asbestos, and adding access controls to doors.

Passing this bond proposal will provide upgraded laptops and classroom technology to help our students prepare for life after school.

There would be NO NET INCREASE of school property taxes as a result of this bond proposal because of an expiring bond.

Many building items are 23 to 43 years beyond their life expectancy and need to be replaced.

There is no state funding for school infrastructure in Michigan. Schools can use their existing funds to pay for building upgrades but that takes away money from the classroom and students. School improvements are largely left to the community.
