Good evening, Van Dyke Community. There's a need to clear up a rumor that is floating around on social media. The real facts are here: Today, we had a brief, less than ten minute lockdown at Lincoln Elementary so that the Warren PD could investigate a call they received. The report was false and there was no suspect in or near our schools. Everyone is safe and tomorrow will again be business as usual.

Hey there, VDPS Community! Are you ready to come show your school spirit this evening? We'll start with our Homecoming Parade at 5:30 around the Lincoln area, starting at the Auditorium and heading down to Studebaker, then back up to our CTE building. The big game will follow against the alma mater of our Superintendent, the Hazel Park Vikings. Come on out and support the Lincoln Abes. We'll see you there!

VDPS is thankful to Meemic Agent Julie Manetta for providing an Amazon gift card for student programs in the district. What a generous gift to help us start the year! She also brought some yummy treats and swag for our staff, as well as grant information for educators. Thank you so much, Julie!

High School students and parents: There are two big events coming up that you need to know about! Check out the Detroit Black College Expo this Saturday, and the FAFSA Workshop next Thursday evening. The FAFSA shows most of us how we can actually pay for school and get things moving - don't delay and don't be shy.

Good morning, Van Dyke Community! How about some positive messages from our students and elsewhere for Wellness Wednesday? Remember that it's ok not to be ok - just don't give up, and don't trip on what's behind you. We've got your back. This wisdom was shared by two of our students at the last home football game, via their hoodies!

Thank you, Pastor Mollenkamp and the Woodside Community, for donating a busload of backpacks for our students! Not only are they stylish, they're full of school supplies. We'll get them to those who need them and this will surely help us to have a great year in VDPS, together. Mr. Breithaupt was happy to be around to help unload and thank Pastor Tyler when the goodies arrived.

Tonight at 7:00, you can start your long weekend by coming to support the Varsity ABES as they take on St Clair HS at our Stadium. Good afternoon, Van Dyke families. We are so excited to welcome all of your children back on Monday, August 28. Don't worry if you haven't received class lists or packets yet- our amazing secretaries have returned and are getting back into the swing of things now. Take a look at your individual schools' web pages to find supply lists for different grade levels, etc. We won't be posting class lists outside to help increase safety, however you can find those out directly through your child's school. Get ready for a great morning on Monday, and just a couple of things to sign when the kiddos get home!
